Auctions

Our internet bidding service is available and registration must be completed 48 hours before the auction. Telephone and Proxy bidding must be registered 2 hours before the auction begins. All bidders must provide two pieces of ID with one being a current passport before being able to bid. Please click here to register online.

The 3 ways remote bidding works on the day are described below:

  • Telephone: A member of our auction team will call you in time for each lot you have registered an interest for, and you will instruct them as and when you want to place a bid.
  • You register a maximum bid with DPS prior to the auction starting and the auction team will bid on your behalf until you are the winning bidder, or we reach your maximum amount.
  • You register with our online service

Please note that DPS cannot be held responsible for any failure in internet connection, loss of phone signal or anything preventing you from being able to place any bids. We reserve the right to refuse any bids, no reason needs to be given.

For all auctions if you are the highest bidder on the fall of the hammer, then the sale becomes legally binding. If it is a property auction contracts will be signed and exchanged by the DPS auction team. We strongly recommend every bidder completes their due diligence prior to placing any bids at auction. Bidders at a property auction are encouraged to inspect the property at one of our viewing days, take independent legal advice regarding the legal pack, have funds in place to pay the non-refundable 10% deposit on the night and can fund the balance within 20 working days after the auction as well as can comply with anti-money laundering legislation. Furthermore, please check any Addendum for any amendments prior to the auction taking place.

Pure Online Auction

Although DPS is well known for their efficient and well attended On Site Auctions we also offer an Online Auction to clients and the public. This allows items to be sold efficiently outside of our physical auctions. We use state of the art technology, online marketing backed with local media adverts to generate significant interest which is directed to the auction website. Our platform is similar to that other famous auction site ebay.  Please click here to access.  For those that need help selling an item, placing a bid or paying our staff in the conveniently assessable store in Jamestown are here to help.

This type of auction allows each item to have its own detailed listing accompanied by photographs allowing your items to be exposed in a transparent and informative manner to the marketplace. This form of sale is particularly attractive to expatriates who are leaving the Island or individuals who want to sell unwanted gifts or items   This service offers an alternative to the traditional sales method and can be tailored to suit the needs of individual clients allowing specialist and general equipment to be auctioned in an efficient, flexible manner. This method also helps to combat the costs and time attached to the logistics of transporting machinery and equipment and allows vendors to offer their items for sale directly from their home or work place.

Auctions typically run for 10-15 days, and once the auction is completed items are collected from the vendor’s site within an allocated time scale. If you are considering selling any items and would like some advice please call the Office on +29067022. Buyers are encouraged to make enquiries as they feel necessary. All bids are legally binding once placed and DPS will pursue successful purchasers for payment in full.  Buyers alone are responsible for ensuring items are as described and should not solely rely on Auctioneers/Vendors descriptions although every effort is made to be accurate and transparent. As with any auction no warranties or guarantees are given.
